Why do I always expect the worst?
If anxiety has a habit of showing up, even in the most ordinary of moments, it could be a sign that your nervous system is working overtime to protect you.
Anxiety isn't an argument to be won. It's a signal, and signals respond to being understood, not overridden.
You might find yourself overthinking conversations, imagining worst-case scenarios, struggling to switch off, or feeling constantly on edge. You probably know you're worrying more than you need to, but trying to reason your way out of anxiety only seems to turn the volume up further.
We don't start by trying to get rid of anxiety. Instead, we get curious about it, first establishing a sense of calm and safety, then exploring what your nervous system has learned to watch for, and why that made sense at the time. As you come to understand what's been happening beneath the surface, your mind can often discover a different understanding of itself, and that's where lasting change starts.
What happens over our four sessions?
I work within a structured programme of four sessions (usually weekly, where possible) because meaningful change rarely happens in a single appointment. Each session builds on the last, giving your mind and body time to settle, learn and change.
Your first session starts with a conversation. We'll take time to understand what's been happening, what you'd like to be different, and answer any questions you have about the process. I'll then guide you into hypnosis, a calm, inward-focused state, rather like daydreaming, but with a purpose. You remain aware and in control throughout. Many people tell me it's one of the most relaxing experiences they've had in a long time.
Each session is tailored to you and builds on your progress, combining conversation, hypnosis and practical tools where appropriate. You'll also receive personalised audio recordings to listen to between sessions, helping to reinforce the work we're doing together.
What people often notice
People usually come hoping to feel less anxious. What they often notice is something broader: enjoying everyday life without constantly scanning for what might go wrong and, perhaps most importantly, beginning to trust themselves again.
“A wonderful hypnotherapy experience with Melissa. It was my first time and she put me at ease straight away. In just a few weeks my anxiety has greatly improved and my mindset shifted. I would, without doubt, recommend her to help with anything you may be going through.”
Is this the right approach for you?
Hypnotherapy can be incredibly effective for many forms of anxiety, but it's not always the right approach for everyone, or at every stage.
Your free consultation is an opportunity for us to understand what's been happening, answer your questions and decide together whether this feels like the right fit for you. If I believe another approach or additional support would serve you better, I'll always tell you.
