Peri-menopause & menopause

Why do I feel like I'm losing myself?

Menopause is often talked about as a list of symptoms to manage, but it's also a genuine transition, one that many cultures have historically marked as an entry into a different, valued stage of life rather than a decline.

This phase of life isn't a fading-out. It's a shift toward something else, and it can be incredibly liberating.

Most women notice the physical symptoms first. Anxiety or low mood can arrive with no obvious trigger, sleep can become unreliable, and hot flushes or night sweats can disrupt everything else on top. Many women also find this stage quietly erodes their confidence and sense of self, which is exactly why this work isn't only about calming symptoms, but about helping you reconnect with who you are underneath them.

At Belief Dynamics

We won't try to help you get back to your old self. Instead, we begin by working with the nervous-system dysregulation that hormonal change can bring: supporting sleep, easing anxiety, and, for some women, reducing the frequency and intensity of hot flushes, an area where hypnotherapy has a genuine evidence base of its own. Alongside that, we make space for the bigger question underneath: who you're becoming in this next chapter, not just what you're losing from the last one.

What happens over our four sessions?

I work within a structured programme of four sessions (usually weekly, where possible) because meaningful change rarely happens in a single appointment. Each session builds on the last, giving your mind and body time to settle, learn and change.

Your first session starts with a conversation. We'll take time to understand what's been happening, what you'd like to be different, and answer any questions you have about the process. I'll then guide you into hypnosis, a calm, inward-focused state, rather like daydreaming, but with a purpose. You remain aware and in control throughout. Many people tell me it's one of the most relaxing experiences they've had in a long time.

Each session is tailored to you and builds on your progress, combining conversation, hypnosis and practical tools where appropriate. You'll also receive personalised audio recordings to listen to between sessions, helping to reinforce the work we're doing together.

What people often notice

Women often come hoping for better sleep and calmer days. What tends to follow reaches further: steadier moods, more patience with the people around you, and, often unexpectedly, a clearer sense of who you are now, rather than a mourning of who you were before.

“I can't recommend Mel highly enough. From the very first session, I felt safe, understood and genuinely supported. Mel helped calm my nervous system in a way I hadn't experienced before. More importantly, she helped me reconnect with myself, reminding me of who I am beneath the mid-life noise and what's important. The sessions have given me a renewed sense of clarity, confidence and inner peace.”

Is this the right approach for you?

Your free consultation is an opportunity for us to understand what's been happening and decide together whether this feels like the right approach for you. Hypnotherapy won't change your hormone levels, so it's worth discussing options like HRT with your GP, which, if appropriate for you, can genuinely help.
