Why do I lose my confidence when I need it most?
You know you're capable, and you've probably done it a million times before. And yet, in the moments that matter most, a difficult conversation, a big decision, meeting someone new, your heart races, your mind goes blank, and you're suddenly wondering what everyone is thinking of you.
Your confidence hasn't gone anywhere. You've just lost access to it, right when you need it.
That's because your nervous system has mistaken an important moment for a dangerous one, and when it does, it simply switches off access to the part of your brain holding everything you know, so that the survival part gets all the attention.
We don't start by trying to rebuild your confidence. We look at what each challenging situation means to your nervous system, and help it recognise that what's triggering the self-doubt isn't actually a threat. Once that shifts, confidence tends to come back on its own.
What happens over our four sessions?
I work within a structured programme of four sessions (usually weekly, where possible) because meaningful change rarely happens in a single appointment. Each session builds on the last, giving your mind and body time to settle, learn and change.
Your first session starts with a conversation. We'll take time to understand what's been happening, what you'd like to be different, and answer any questions you have about the process. I'll then guide you into hypnosis, a calm, inward-focused state, rather like daydreaming, but with a purpose. You remain aware and in control throughout. Many people tell me it's one of the most relaxing experiences they've had in a long time.
Each session is tailored to you and builds on your progress, combining conversation, hypnosis and practical tools where appropriate. You'll also receive personalised audio recordings to listen to between sessions, helping to reinforce the work we're doing together.
What people often notice
People often come hoping to feel less self-doubt. What they experience goes further: trusting themselves more, caring less what other people think, and doing the things they used to talk themselves out of.
“I would without hesitation recommend working with Belief Dynamics to overcome or change something in your life through hypnotherapy. Thanks to Mel I have gleaned a much greater understanding of myself and what was behind the challenges I had been struggling with. This has been an essential element in being able to move forward, helping me to overcome decades of a severely limiting belief system and the lack of confidence that came with it.”
