Tinnitus

How can I make the ringing stop?

Hypnotherapy can't switch tinnitus off, but it can change your relationship with the sound, so it stops commanding your attention the way it currently does.

Learning to deprioritise the noise is often what lets you live well alongside it.

You may have noticed that the sound tends to feel loudest when you're tired, stressed, or lying awake, and the more you focus on it, the more it fills the room. For a lot of people, the real distress isn't the noise itself. It's the constant monitoring of it, and the fear it will never fade.

At Belief Dynamics

We won't pretend we can silence the sound, but we can help your brain stop treating it as a constant threat that needs tracking. And when that happens, the sound can fade into the background and your attention is free to rest elsewhere.

What happens over our four sessions?

I work within a structured programme of four sessions (usually weekly, where possible) because meaningful change rarely happens in a single appointment. Each session builds on the last, giving your mind and body time to settle, learn and change.

Your first session starts with a conversation. We'll take time to understand what's been happening, what you'd like to be different, and answer any questions you have about the process. I'll then guide you into hypnosis, a calm, inward-focused state, rather like daydreaming, but with a purpose. You remain aware and in control throughout. Many people tell me it's one of the most relaxing experiences they've had in a long time.

Each session is tailored to you and builds on your progress, combining conversation, hypnosis and practical tools where appropriate. You'll also receive personalised audio recordings to listen to between sessions, helping to reinforce the work we're doing together.

What people often notice

People often arrive exasperated by a sound they can't switch off. What tends to follow is a calmer relationship with tinnitus, feeling more present and engaging with life again.

Is this the right approach for you?

It's worth having any new or changing tinnitus checked by your GP or an audiologist first, before starting hypnotherapy, to rule out an underlying cause.

Your free consultation is an opportunity for us to understand what's been keeping tinnitus at the centre of your attention and decide together whether this feels like the right approach for you.
